Mol sells 21.4% Dunastyr stake to EniChem

Hungary's Mol, the refining and petrochemical company, has sold its 21.4% stake in polystyrene producer Dunastyr to EniChem.

EniChem paid Forint452m ($1.7m) for the stake. In addition it gains a medium-term benzene, services and utility supply agreements for Dunastyr.

Dunastyr has a plant at Szazhalombatta, 30km from Budapest. This has capacity to produce 76500 tonne/year of high impact polystyrene and 27000 tonne/year expandable polystyrene. It had revenue of Forint15bn last year. The purchase takes EniChem's stake in Dunastyr almost to 100%, from its earlier 77% ownership. Dunastyr made a profit of Forint420m in 1998.

Mol is selling the stake as part of its strategy to concentrate on core activities such as petrochemicals and refining. Mol recently bought Slovakia's refinery and petrochemicals plant, Slovnaft
