Tiszai Vegyi Kombinat Rt is one
of the major chemical complexes and sole polyolefins producer in
Hungary and represents more than 20% of petrochemical capacities
in Central Europe. With its high quality products, the Company
has a leading role on domestic polyethylene and polypropylene
markets, while being a reliable producer and supplier to a number
of Western customers as well.
The predecessor to today's Company, Tiszavideki Vegyi Kombinat,
established in 1953, changed its name to Tiszai Vegyi Kombinat
after commissioning its first production unit, a paint plant in
1961.
The aim of the then government was to speed up industrial
development in the provinces and to create new jobs in the
north-eastern region of the country. This political decision
resulted in a new town, Tiszaujvaros, on the Tisza river. The
history of the town, with a population of 18 thousand today, has
undergone a social development that well reflects the success
story TVK has produced in industry in the last few decades.
