The Geismar Site is the largest manufacturing facility at BASF Corporation. Located on a 2,640-acre site, of which only 700 acres are developed, the Geismar facility comprises 15 manufacturing units within 6 manufacturing groups. About 1,000 BASF employees and 250 contractors are currently working at the site.
July 18, 2002 - BASF today announced that it will
focus on the purified ethylene oxide market in the United States
and will cease U.S. production of ethylene glycol. As a result,
BASF will close the oldest two of its three ethylene oxide units
at its Geismar site as well as its Geismar glycol unit during the
second half of this year.

May 18, 2009 ? BASF is building a new plant for the production of methylamines at its integrated Verbund site in Geismar, Louisiana, that is scheduled to start operations in 2011.
The Geismar PVP(Polyvinylpyrrolidone )facility manufactures a diverse line of PVP products for the pharmaceutical industry.
